Pastel and Watercolor Demonstration by Deb LaFogg Docherty
Deborah LaFogg Docherty’s art combines her great two loves: her love of nature and her love of painting. She has been studying wildlife in it’s natural habitat since she was a child on her family’s farm in Connecticut. Whenever she had a chance she would draw and paint, each was always about wildlife. Her paintings strive to give people a glimpse of how animals live in the wild, raise their young, court and survive. She paints a picture of a secret world that many never get a chance to see. Deborah’s quest to paint wildlife has taken her across the United States from the Everglades National Park in Florida to Denali National Park in Alaska. It has become an adventure she loves to share.

Her formal training began in college with a dual major in illustration and commercial art. She has continued to advance her work through master artist workshops. It is from them that she began to not only focus on the wildlife, but on the landscape in which they live. The use of light, color, composition, texture, and atmosphere help bring the viewer into the secret world of nature. She is always learning new ways to communicate this through her work. Deborah’s paintings come to life in pastels, acrylics and oils.

Upcoming Demonstrations:
March 11 - McMow Art Glass
April 8 - Lucy Keshavarz, Mixed Media
May 13 - Laurie Snow Hein, Oil Painting

There's food, fun, raffle prizes and art to share at every meeting!

Whole Foods Exhibit
Works by Emmanual Gonzalez, December - February

Reception:
February 20, 6:30-8:00pm
Live music, wine and appetizers.

Emmanuel Gonzalez’ interest in art is life long.  He began entering State-wide art competitions in the 1990’s and has shown in galleries nation-wide.  Most recently, Emmanuel’s work was included in the Art Palm Beach/Art Synergy exhibit at Continuum.

Emmanuel shares, ” I explore the past and present through realism and portraiture. My body of work includes a growing retrospective of American icons, where each piece is presented as a fragment in a larger American patchwork. Individually, my subjects attempt to characterize the social climate at a given moment in history. They are influential, recognizable images; relevant within specific ethnic and social groups. Some subjects are foreign to others outside of a particular group or generation. Just as one group identifies emotionally with a particular image through a shared social lens, outsiders will experience these images differently.”

Whole Foods is a major sponsor of our scholarship program for graduating high school seniors planning to major in art. Your donation at the reception helps support these scholarships.
