The Wellington Art Society, a member-supported 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization , provides visual arts for the community through excellent exhibitions, educational and cultural programs, Special Events and Community Outreach activities.
At the Wellington Art Society, our members are passionate about the creative process and appreciate the results of persistent artistry and craftsmanship. Ours is an organization through which one can learn, share, and give back to other artists and the community.
Founded in 1981 by Johanna Secor, a world-renowned artist from Connecticut, the Wellington Art Society has grown in recent years as we’ve become more visible within the community and as artists have discovered the benefits of membership.
Involvement in the Wellington Art Society affords members an excellent opportunity to exhibit, connect with collectors, increase their exposure and income, and promote art and cultural endeavors in Palm Beach County, Florida.
Networking with other artists and participation in our exhibitions and workshops all serve to bring the local artistic community together. The Wellington Art Society Signature Member designation is awarded to members for their participation and recognition of honors received.
Today our membership includes everyone from art lovers to internationally recognized artists. In all, we count as members more than 100 painters, sculptors, potters, photographers, fine crafters, jewelry makers, graphic designers, students, teachers, hobbyists and art enthusiasts.
At monthly meetings, held September through May, professional artists give demonstrations in various mediums and share professional practices as part of artist development. In addition, members with similar interests meet on an informal basis.
Our Community Outreach Programs enhance the lives and the culture of our community through interaction with artists and their artistic contributions to the community. Projects have included art lessons for local youth, a mural and 75 paintings for the local Children’s Hospital, Artwork for the Community Park, Wish List Art Supplies for many groups, administering the Wellington Student Art Program for the Village of Wellington, and our 2 day outdoor Annual Juried Art Show that features a Youth Art Activity Area, artist demos, and opportunities to interact with local artists.
W.A.S. supports our Youth -Since 2001 over 75 scholarships totaling $90,000 have been awarded to local High School Students to further their education in the visual arts at the college level. Summer Art Camp scholarships are also given each year to local children.
Most of these activities are supported through Society fundraisers, grants and corporate donations.
We are a fabulous group! We understand nothing great happens without enthusiasm!
We learn, share, inspire, motivate, contribute, and bring out the creative best in each other.
For 37 years, the Wellington Art Society has been bringing art and community together to celebrate Life and Art.
