Long ago in Dreamtime, Wagyl, the Rainbow Serpent, awoke to find a barren earth. She pushed her way forward and backward. As the soil piled up in front of her, she created hills and the valleys filled with rainwater to form rivers.
The story of the Rainbow Serpent is an Australian Aboriginal myth that tells a Creation Story. They believed that our Earth was created by many spiritual beings and is a sacred place to be loved and cared for.
In this colorful class, Sue Slick Carlson will guide you through the creation of a custom 20-inch rainbow serpent, crafted with wood and painted with acrylics. As you work, you will listen to the sounds of Didgeridoo music and learn words and symbols of the Australian Aboriginal people.
